The Monitran DS0023 industrial eddy current sensor is designed for critical applications in displacement monitoring on rotating machinery. Its architecture combines a stainless steel probe with a high-resolution sensing coil, optimized for measuring displacements in the 0 to 2 mm range with a nominal sensitivity of 8 mV/µm. Eddy current technology enables non-contact detection, ideal for harsh environments where mechanical interference is unacceptable. The probe is equipped with a PEEK tip, resistant to high temperatures and chemicals, and an RG179 cable with PTFE insulation, allowing a maximum length of 9 meters without signal loss. The sensor's operation is based on the variation of inductance in the sensing coil when it interacts with the calibrated material (AISI 4140). How does temperature affect sensor sensitivity under extreme conditions?

The sensor's thermal sensitivity remains lower than that of the 5% under extreme operating conditions: less than the 5% at 150 °C in the probe and less than the 5% at 80 °C in the driver. This is achieved through the use of heat-resistant materials (PEEK in the tip and stainless steel in the body) and a reference calibration on AISI 4140, which minimizes thermal drift in harsh industrial applications.

What advantages does RG179 PTFE cable offer compared to other types of insulation?
