Direct and inverted electronic pendulum system for structural auscultation
The EDS-50 / EDS-51 direct and inverted pendulum electronic system is designed for the accurate measurement of relative displacements, tilt, and structural rotation in geotechnical surveying and structural monitoring applications.
It is commonly used in concrete and masonry dams, high-rise buildings, nuclear power plants, foundations and large infrastructures where it is necessary to control structural stability and detect deformations caused by loads, excavations, ground movements or variations in the foundation.
The EDS-50 model is a direct pendulum, with a stainless steel cable suspended from the top of the structure and a damping mass submerged in oil. The EDS-51 model is an inverted pendulum, with a cable anchored to the rock foundation and tensioned by a float submerged in water.
Electronic measurement is performed using the EPR-01S automatic reading unit, equipped with non-contact inductive sensors to detect cable displacement on both axes. The system allows integration with data acquisition, remote monitoring, and continuous supervision of critical structures.
Main applications
- Geotechnical monitoring of dams.
- Structural monitoring of large infrastructures.
- Control of relative displacements in foundations.
- Measurement of structural tilt and rotation.
- Monitoring of stability in walls, pillars, piles and areas at risk of sliding.
