ATEX SM60EX Contactless Encoder
- Manufacturer: ELCIS Encoder
- Category: Encoder, Incremental Encoder, ATEX Explosionproof Incremental Encoder, Incremental Magnetic Encoder, SENSORS
The SM60EX is an unamplified explosion-proof magnetic reading head, for use with EM series amplifiers and AM series magnetic rings, marked II 2 G Ex d IIC T6/T5 Gb and D Ex tb IIIC T85°C/T100°C Db IP66.
It is supplied with an aluminum (245 g) or AISI 303 stainless steel housing, measures 60 × 50 × 31.5 mm and has IP66 protection. The distance to the AM ring is 1 to 1.9 mm, the standard magnetic pitch is 5 mm and the power supply is 5 to 5.5 V.
The two ELCIS documents differ in signal performance: the ATEX brochure indicates 300 kHz and 50–80 mV sinusoidal; the datasheet indicates 1 MHz and 80–100 mV peak-to-peak. Confirm with Guemisa before ordering. ATEX limitations: cable for minimum 100 °C permanently connected, assembly screws of at least grade 8.8, connection in an Ex junction box or outside a potentially explosive atmosphere, and maximum cable length of 10 m. Available in guemisa.es.
- Explosion-proof magnetic head for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 (gas G and dust D).
- Marked II 2 G Ex d IIC T6/T5 Gb and D Ex tb IIIC T85°C/T100°C Db IP66.
- Certificate CESI12ATEX052X (with X(special conditions for safe use) and notification CESI02ATEX138Q.
- Cable 100 °C min. permanently connected, quality screws 8.8 minimum and maximum cable length 10 m.
- Shock resistance 50 G × 11 ms vibrations already 12 G (10–2000 Hz).
Technical Frequently Asked Questions
What ATEX marking does the SM60EX have?
II 2 G Ex d IIC T6 Gb and D Ex tb IIIC T85°C Db IP66 (class T6), or II 2 G Ex d IIC T5 Gb and D Ex tb IIIC T100°C Db IP66 (class T5), in accordance with EN 60079-0, EN 60079-1 and EN 60079-31.
In which areas can it be installed and what does the "X" on the certificate mean?
Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 under the CESI12ATEX052X certificate. The "X" indicates special safe use conditions specified in the certificate annex.
What ATEX limitations does the installation have?
The head is supplied with a cable suitable for a minimum of 100°C, permanently connected, and a suitable connection of the free end must be provided. The assembly screws must be of grade 8.8 or lower. The connection must be made using an Ex junction box or outside of a potentially explosive atmosphere. Maximum cable length: 10 m.
