The ELCIS 959CS (A/959CS) is an SSI single-turn absolute encoder with hollow shaft and built-in elastic coupling, suitable for general industrial use.
It features optical readout via LED and an IR ASIC photodiode array. It allows selection of 4096, 8192, 16384, 32768, or 65536 steps per revolution, with a maximum resolution of 16 bits. It transmits the position in Gray code or binary code via an SSI serial interface (RS422 line driver) with a clock speed of 100 kHz to 1 MHz and an LSB step rate of 800 kHz. It is available in preset (S1) and preset push-button (S4, radial output only) variants. Options include: Q (all stainless steel), W (sealed bearings), and X (custom option).
Constructed with a Ø59 mm aluminum housing and a Ø15 mm F7 hollow stainless steel shaft (optional Ø8, Ø10, Ø12 or others upon request), it supports radial loads of 40 N and axial loads of 110 N. It features IP64 protection on the shaft side (IP66 in the sealed version) and operates from -40 to +85 °C (with cable: -5 to +70 °C).
