ALVIM A001S3 biofilm sensor for real-time monitoring
- Manufacturer: Alvim
- Category: Water quality, SENSORS, Biofilm Sensors
Are you experiencing problems with biological colonization, scaling, or loss of performance in water circuits? In cooling towers, process water, drinking water, or seawater, biofilm can grow before standard control parameters show a clear deviation. When not detected early, problems arise. plant failures, loss of heat exchange, increased chemical consumption and microbiological risk.
He ALVIM A001S3 biofilm sensor It is designed for the early detection of biofilm formation on surfaces. Its electrochemical principle allows for monitoring biological coverage from the 1 % up to 100 %, providing a usable signal in automation by 4–20 mA and digital communication RS485 / MODBUS RTU. Compared to indirect controls or manual inspections, it provides a continuous measure that can be directly integrated into monitoring systems.
Due to its construction in titanium, zinc and threaded connector in PVC, The A001S3 is suitable for most industrial applications and is particularly well-suited for seawater. It can be integrated into plant instrumentation for continuous monitoring, alarms, and condition-based dosing or cleaning strategies.
Key technical advantages
- Biofilm detection: sensitivity of 1 % to 100 % of the covered surface.
- Industrial integration: exit 4–20 mA and communication RS485 / MODBUS RTU.
- Process compatibility: threaded connection 1” BSPP and working pressure of up to 10 bar.
- Durable construction: working electrode in titanium and counter electrode in zinc.
- Real-world application: Suitable for industrial, drinking, process water and especially seawater.
Differential block: Visual inspection, fixed periodic cleaning, or indirect estimation of fouling do not allow for precise determination of when biological colonization begins. The ALVIM A001S3, however, provides a measurable and continuous reference for biofilm growth, enabling action before efficiency losses, Legionella risk, or microbiological corrosion associated with the process occur.
